Sketches

I thought I'd post this having read Pinkglitterfaes recent post. This is my last sketch in my sketch book. I have been sketching alot of faces which are usually faceless so to speak although the last five have been within a shape. I was flicking through this magazine when i caught sight of this dolly, you've probably seen the add. It's interesting to see how different people interpret facial features and shapes. The eyes on this doll caught my eye if you pardon the pun so i thought I'd have a go.This is my sketch in the raw and i have made no adjustments to her and can see she needs some work but it got me away from drawing her eyes the way i draw most eyes plus she has hair and some mini clothes too lol. It's good to broaden your horizons and try something different. Anyway just thought I'd share.

Spash of colour

This morning is the first day of the holidays so i thought me and my son would spend some time crafting. Some time last year i bought a foam Easter kit and have used a little of the foam but int he main the kit was still untouched. So i cut out the Easter egg shapes using my Fiskars cutting stencils minus the cutter as the blade appears to be blunt. Got Brett some coordinating cards and pushed out all the pre-cut shapes and got him sticking. We managed about half an hour and as i was adding the last few Happy Easters Brett's attention had already diverted back to the TV. Still nice and bright and cheery and he can send them to whoever he chooses :)

Get Sketchy Challenge 31

Just made this card for my niece and based it on the the sketch over at Get Sketchy. It took a bit of doing, I'd already made the flower, i keep seeing them all over the place so i had to have a go. For mine i cut out three different size circles, scrunched them up and rubbed a pink ink pad on the yellow paper and a yellow one on the pink, as you can see the ink grabbed in the creases and then i embossed them all with a glittery powder. I sewed them together and round the edge and added a flat gold embellishment for the center. Having seen the sketch and DT entries it gave me some ideas for putting this together although i still struggled a bit but then i found this ornament (and the technical name has gone) and wrapped some coordinating embroidery thread round to tie it in with the flower and finished it off with a simple sentiment. Hope she likes it :)

Medallion Blues

Yesterday i used my faithful medallion stamp. I stamped the medallion four times using a black stamp pad and applied clear embossing powder. Once the powder was heated i used four different blue ink pads and coloured over them and then cut out the various elements that i wanted from each medallion and built them up using double sided foam pads. I kept the card relatively simple so as not to distract too much from the medallion. I have used this medallions in all sorts of colours and never fail to be pleased with the results.

Happy Easter countdown

Hello everyone and almost Happy Easter, infact I'm already in Easter mode. I got my little Easter mugs out, must photograph them and hung my little felt Easter eggs on my light up twiggy branches so today i made these floral crosses. They are made using Hama beads, the children's iron beads. I love making these and in the past have made quite a few so this morning i made these two cards. What i love about these is that their pretty and can be sent at Easter or after the loss of someone. So i plan to make more and pop some in my Etsy store. I really enjoyed my crafty time this morning. Finished another card this afternoon that i have yet to photograph but will keep you posted :)

Challenge 22

Here is my DT entry for Challenge 22 over at Michelle Perkett SD Challenge Blog. This was made using Alice's Tea Party Digital stamp found here I coloured her using felt tips, something I'm not usually that thrilled with but this time i was happier with the end result, seems to me you can't beat Copics or similar, not that I've tried just what I've seen :) The card was made using a specially designed sketch that you can see on Michelle's Blog. Please check out the other DT Cards for this challenge and stop by and take part. Fun, fun, fun :)

Distressing Challenge

Good morning. Made this card this morning. Now there are several reasons that i made it the first of which is the kind lady at docrafts sent me a goodie bag with which to make some cards, for what you may ask, that is another story and i will share when there is something to share but in the mean time i love my goodie bag. I thought i would be really resourceful when making this card so i used the distressing technique required over at Pollycraft Monday Challenge and thought i would use a sketch that i thought i found here as it turned out i think i just used a sketch that isn't actually part of the challenge but still i made good use of the picture. So a triple whammy. Really enjoyed making this card and using the goodies that came in my bag.

Spring is Sprung

Well here we are another month round. March arrived on Monday and with it came sunshine aplenty. Not so warm but then it's only early and a bit of sunshine sure does lift your mood.

In my Awe-Manac for March the 4th was my Aha-phrodisiac suggesting in honour of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons you divide a piece of paper into four sections and fill each section with one of the four seasons. So i did just that. Here Spring is Sprung :)
