It's my party and i'll cry if i want to...
You know me (well most of you do anyway). I am always full of bright ideas, some of which come to fruition, most of which don't. Sometime ago i had an idea that to celebrate mine and hubbies birthday, our 40ths we should have an 80's style fancy dress party, what fun. There was another quite important element to this party but on the off chance that that may occur sometime in the future I'm going to save it.
Anyway as you know there has been no fancy dress party, due to finances it got cancelled.
Jason celebrated his birthday in several different (quite successful) ways. Me i tried, first there was a trip to London and a 'surprise' show, then i tried to organise a potting party but time marches on and there were yes's, no's, maybes and no answers so in the end i thought enough is enough and called it off. By now you can imagine that my interest in my 'big' day was waning.
Thanks to my 'Parent Group' friends for my Hobbycraft vouchers and cake, complete with candle :) Thanks to Glenny for my b'day lunch. Thanks to family and friends for all my cards, pressies and facebook comments and thanks to Melanie for making me and Brett lunch the day after :)
It really sounds like i'm moaning but maybe you can understand a little why it felt like somewhat of an anticlimax when my birthday arrived :-(
Not even a cake to celebrate with on the day, so today almost a week later, i bake myself a cake complete with sparkler candles because after all it was my birthday, a special event of which there are few and you only get to be 40 once and from here on in I'm going backwards...Maybe a photo or two to follow depending on how my cake works out...

More Holiday Reading
I just had to read this to Brett yesterday, the main reason being that it was raining. It's a bit of a girly book on the exterior but boy does Molly have some brolly good adventures :)
This next book fits in nicely with the fact that during the holidays the library is running a Space Hop the challenge is to read just six books, or be read to as in Brett's age group.Anyway on Tuesday morning we went to a space hop inspired morning of stories and crafts, made a rocket and coloured space men etc. I knew we had this book at home so out it came. Bobs adventures on the moon and the distinct lack of aliens!
Today's book (well one of several) is actually one of mine. I think i bought it at a car boot pretty much due to the lovely illustrations. I do that alot :)
This book tells of Ziggi who wonders why he is here. He gets taken on a special journey to find out and to be honest his little journey applies to us all :)

Tweet tweet
Last week i popped into town for one or two things and on visiting Wilko i spotted these...
Oohhh, i had a quick squizz and then went off to compare prices on the things I'd come up for which primarily was some drawing paper and stuff for my son. I got him some bits in the £1 shop and then popped back to Wilko. With my birthday so close i wasn't sure i was doing the right thing, I'm always telling hubby off for wanting to buy things close to his birthday but i took the risk after all you can never have too many bits of stationary with owls and birdies on can you :) No one else bought me them so i was safe.
They are just so cute, don't you think?!?
Tweet tweet :)
Thought i would just share my latest card here too as it fits with the feathered theme
Love how he turned out and i made this for my uncle so it's quite masculine i hope, think i might do some more of these but i must get some more of these lovely brown cards that i can't find at Hobbycraft just The Range :)

Challenge 18 over at Meljens Designs
Gosh have i been on a roll making cards this last couple of weeks, still have a few to make but I'm keeping up just about.I was making this card for a friend of mine so i thought i would incorporate the sketch over at Meljens Designs so here it is .
The card was made using a digi from Paula at Pollycraft but i do have some cute cupcakes from Meljens ready for next time :)
Ok so it didn't take long for me to put this together, needed to get another card off in the post as soon as so voila, a bird in the hand and all that. Card number two for challenge 18 :) ok well number two but not for the challenge as it appears it has closed now. Never mind lol
